Four Signs You Need Water Heater Repairs

Having your water heater go out is no fun. You rely on your water heater a lot more than you think, and when it goes out, you will really take notice. While you can’t stop your water heater from getting older, you can stay on top of things and keep your eye out for signs that it needs repairs before it gets so bad that it stops working completely.

Sign #1: It Is Nearing 10 Years Old

Water heaters usually last for about 10 years, and as they get close to this age, they may need more repairs to keep them running. You can find out how old yours is by just checking the stickers on the unit.

Sign #2: Leaks

One of the biggest and most obvious signs that something is wrong is a leak. You may not notice it until the leak is bad. However, if you make it a habit to check every week, you should be able to see if there is one.

Sign #3: Discolored Water

If you start to notice that when using the hot water, it has a tint to it, this can be a warning sign. In most cases, the water will be rusty. However, any discoloration is a reason to have the water heater looked at.

Sign #4: Odd Noises

Some noise during operation is normal, but any louder than usual noise is something that you should be watching for. Off noises, like rumbling, can signal sediment build up, which hinders how it works.

These four signs are things you need to be looking out for. If you spot any of them, then call in a professional to take a look. For more information water heater repairs in San Marcos, click here.
